Software Development refers to a collection of computer science activities concerned with the creation, design, deployment, and maintenance of software.Software itself is the set of instructions or programs that tell a computer what to do. It is independent of hardware and makes computers programmable (www.ibm.com, 2023).
BASIC TYPES OF SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT
SYSTEM SOFTWARE: This is the core services such as operating systems, disc management, utilities, hardware management, and other operational essentials are provided (www.ibm.com, 2023).
PROGRAMMING SOFTWARE: This is provide text editors, compilers, linkers, debuggers, and other code creation tools to programmers (www.ibm.com, 2023).
APPLICATION SOFTWARE: This assist users in completing chores. Examples include office productivity suites, data management software, media players, and security software. Web and mobile apps, such as those used to purchase on Amazon.com, socialise on Facebook, or submit photos to Instagram, are other examples of applications (www.ibm.com, 2023).
